This kit includes everything you need to make one purple paper potted orchid.  (Tongue twister!)  I know the picture on the front is for a white flower but look below and you'll see I bought the purple kit, purple being my favorite color.

Here's what you get.....
1 Paper Source Paper Orchid Kit in purple
1 terra cotta pot
1 block of floral foam
(This is over a $20 value.)

Now here's how to enter.  Leave a gardening comment on this post with a favorite tip, flower or any other little tidbit about having, or trying to have, a green thumb.  Want an extra entry?  Let us know you are a follower in a second comment.  The giveaway will be open until 5pm central time this friday, May 25th, when we will pick a winner at random from the comments.  Thanks for stopping by and Good Luck!

  7. Awesome kit! My husband loves orchids but I tend to kill them

  8. I love these kits and actually it would go perfectly with my real white Phalaenopsis! The secret to keeping these types of orchids alive is to give them little bits of water each day since they hate to have wet feet. An ice cube amount of water is just about perfect. :) Thanks for the chance to win!

  10. let's see...garden with your kids! my son started when he was in the sling and started 200 seeds inside this year at age 4-i think it's so important for kids to know where their food comes from-and it makes them more eager to eat it! also, my favorite spring flower is sweet woodruff! thanks!

  12. Aah, finally a flower I wouldn't kill... probably! I wish I had a green thumb, but I'm not so lucky in that area. I've killed a cactus before and I think it takes some extraordinary effort to do that...

  13. we have really hard clay soil here, I planted my tomatoes directly into a miracle grow soil bag at the end of my driveway, only sunny spot, and I've got the best plants ever and a little green tomato!!! I have great hopes!!!!!

  14. I just read that you can make your own natural pesticide by blending up a dried pepper, an onion, and a couple of cloves of garlic, mixing it with soap and water, straining it (so it doesn't clog your nozzle) and then spraying it on your plants. I'm hoping it will keep the bugs and bunnies away but leave the plants ready for us!

  20. Well it just so happens that I spent all of last week trying to dig out a corner of our yard to plant a garden. Oy! What a huge undertaking. I found out that the previous owners of our house must have deposited every rock they ever came across in that corner. And then I dug up someone's dead pet in a box. Ugh. Then I found out that there was a ton of clay under all that rock and dead pet. Anyway, my husband muscled through it all and we know have some thriving lettuce and peas and carrots in that corner. Phew!

  33. I don't have a tip but i do have a weird story. we recently moved into a new house; on the northeast corner it has an ornamental tree that hangs down like an umbrella sorry I don't know what it is called. I noticed when we moved in that it had branches on top that were not hanging properly and I had planned to cut them out. This week when I was pulling weeds I found out that it is actually two trees that grafted together. The bottom is the ornamental and the top is a mulberry tree that is full of mulberries. Too Crazy for me to wrap my head around but I havn't decided what I am going to do with it now. what do you think I should do?

  50. I tell people to get a worm bin going with red wigglers. They get rid of your vegetable scraps, egg shells, grass clippings, leaves, cffee grounds etc. Then they give you rich soil to plant with and a way to make organic pesticide and fertilizer.

  51. I am terrible at growing things. But Ikea sells some great plastic plants that look so lifelike! My daughter just noticed THIS WEEK that the plant in my sewing studio isn't real, and it has been there for 3 years!

  64. I moved from PA where my garden and flower beds were always beautiful, to Florida where I have had the hardest time getting anything to grow... BUT after years of trial and error I now have orange trees, Pompas grass that is 15 ft high, Lantana which blooms all summer always has butterflies hanging around.. and I just bought the knock out roses which are supposed to do good in this area, we shall see... any way don't give up on a beautiful garden, try, try and try again until you get it to grow...
