The Jewelry Jaunt

With the holidays coming up the girls requested a craft day that would help with Christmas lists.  So what gift does every girl love to get?  Jewelry of course.  The only problem with this topic is that we have very diverse tastes within our group.  From natural wooden beads, to steam punk jewelry, to carved Buddha beads, to what else?  Rhinestone sparkleyness!  So to accommodate everyone we all brought our own tutorials to share and decided to kick the day off with our first ever field trip.  Our first stop was to my friendly neighborhood Hobby Lobby,  where everybody picked up the majority of their supplies, but our other stop was the real jackpot.  There's a totally cute little beading shop in my old neighborhood called Blue Frog Beads.  We stopped there as a special treat to pick out some special finds.  Honestly it was hard to get the girls to leave.

When we got back to the house, after a little snacking, we all headed up to the craft room to dig in with our newly bought goodies.  Everyone staked out their real estate in the room and with video and paper tutorials in hand there were bracelets, necklaces, rings, and even geisha like hair accessories being assembled.  Snacks like bacon wrapped dates, homemade marshmallows and cookies had the sugar and grease to keep us fueled into the night hours.

Sadie's jealousy took over when she saw how much fun we were having.  She tried to help everyone she could, but especially the girls working on the floor (mainly because we were at optimal licking height).  She moved around the room giving her input, doggie kisses and even doing a little modeling.

So here was the end result of all the ladies hard work.  I'm a little partial to the wrapped rings but everything turned out awesome.

The only thing I wish I would have done was to make something special for Sadie and Gidget too.  Hmmm.... that sounds like a great tutorial idea.  Stay tuned.

Craft on!
Anita
